![]() Kamoso is a Qt-based webcam software for Linux that allows you to capture screenshots and record videos from the built-in webcam or an external webcam attached to your PC. In case of any other distro, you can download the Webcamoid AppImage from the link below, and then turn it into an executable by running the following command in the terminal: To install Webcamoid on Ubuntu/Debian, open the terminal and run: sudo apt install webcamoid Plus, there's support for plugins too, so you can extend the software's functionality when it's missing one. If you fancy effects, Webcamoid gives you a variety of effects to choose from (such as blur, cartoon, color filter, and pixelated) that you can apply to your pictures and videos. It also includes support for a virtual webcam, which comes in handy when you want to feed a video recording to other programs. Webcamoid supports multiple recording formats. If you've got a multi-webcam setup, the tool offers custom controls for each webcam, which makes it easy to manage all your webcams at once. It lets you take pictures and record videos with your webcam. Motion detection thresold – the number of changed pixels in an image before it is captured. The higher value you set, the more computing resources it will require. ![]() The default is 2 (2 frames/images taken per second). Similarly, it is limited by your webcam’s capability.įramerate – how often you want the image to be captured per second. Height – The height of the images taken by the webcam. My webcam is only capable of taking images up to 350px, so a value of 320 works fine for me. Note that the width is limited by your webcam’s capability. The default is 320, but you can set your own value here. Width – This is the width of the images taken by the webcam. The default option is “off” where you need to start the application manually in terminal. ![]() Applications in daemon mode will run in the background and start automatically when the computer starts.
